Every great change
begins with a
conversation.
The Flask Ladies began with a single question : what if one small daily habit could help a planet choking on plastic? The Answer turned into a movement.
Every year, India discards billions of plastic bottles. Most end up in landfills, waterways, and soil β breaking into microplastics that enter the food chain, the air, and ultimately our bodies. The scale of the problem is staggering. The solution, it turns out, is elegantly simple.
Dr. Urvashi Mittal β scientist, social entrepreneur, and passionate environmentalist β didn't wait for policy to change. She picked up a steel flask, gathered a group of like-minded women in Delhi, and started asking others to do the same. What happened next surprised even her.
Within months, the Flask Ladies community had grown into a vibrant network of eco-conscious individuals across Delhi, running campaigns, hosting events, pinning new members, and inspiring families, offices, and schools to ditch single-use plastic for good.
Today, with over 12,500 members, 8,000+ plastic bottles recycled, and 2,500+ eco campaigns completed, The Flask Ladies is proof that transformation doesn't require grand gestures. It requires consistent, community-driven action β one sip at a time.
Our Problem
130 billion plastic bottles and 1 trillion plastic bags are discarded globally every year. India is one of the largest contributors.
Our Answer
A durable steel flask replaces 150+ plastic bottles per person per year. Simple. Effective. And beautifully reusable.
Our Power
12,500 people choosing the same thing every day creates unstoppable momentum. Community is the multiplier that makes individual habits into systemic change.

How a gathering became
a Revolution
The launch of The Flask Ladies was unlike any ordinary event. Dr. Urvashi Mittal didn't open with a PowerPoint presentation or a policy brief. She opened with an animated film β one she had commissioned to explain, in vivid, accessible storytelling, why the world's plastic addiction had become an emergency that required personal action. Then came an original music video, with lyrics written by Dr. Mittal herself, freshly composed in a studio, featuring the very first batch of Co-Flask Ladies being pinned. The energy in the room shifted β from awareness to commitment.
THE VISION
Dr. Urvashi Mittal conceives the initiativeAlarmed by India's mounting plastic crisis, Dr. Urvashi Mittal begins developing a community-based model that puts daily habit change β not just awareness β at the centre.

THE MILESTONE

Dear Friend,
The colours of a festival may fade, but the canvas of reality endures β painted with the stark truth of plastic's toll. Our planet is burdened by 130 billion plastic bottles and 1 trillion plastic bags every single year. They suffocate the trees, wilt the flowers, and choke the very Earth that sustains us.
Yet amidst this bleak backdrop, I find hope. Not in waiting for someone else to act β but in the extraordinary power of ordinary people making one small, consistent choice.
At The Flask Ladies, we are not trying to banish plastic from the world overnight. We are reclaiming its purpose β using it thoughtfully, reducing it deliberately, and replacing it wherever we can with something that lasts. A steel flask is not just a container. It is a daily declaration of the world you want to live in.
Join us. Carry your flask. Inspire someone else to carry theirs. And together, let us paint a future where sustainability and progress entwine.

The Flask Ladies Club
"What we carry every day reveals what we care about."
A steel flask is a daily act of intention. We believe that sustainable living starts not with grand sacrifices, but with the objects we choose to bring with us through life.
Change Gently
""Lasting change comes from habit, not pressure." "
We don't shame or lecture. We model, invite, and celebrate. When people change because they want to β not because they're told to β the change actually sticks.
Connect Deeply
"A movement is people choosing the same direction together."
Our community is the product. Every event, campaign, and pinning ceremony exists to strengthen the bonds between people who care about the same future.
Build Lastingly
"We're planting seeds for a generation we'll never meet."
Plastic-free India is a long game. We work with schools, corporates, and communities to embed green habits so deeply that the next generation inherits them as simply the way things are.
There's a club for everyone.
The Flask Ladies movement has grown to welcome everyone β regardless of age or gender β who believes in choosing a greener way to live.
